Hollywood’s se**xual harassment scandals have had a huge impact on the industrie and it’s stars. Due to the ‘Mee Too’ mouvement, a lot of Popular TV shows have been cancelled due to Scandals surrounding their star Cast Members.

A few TV networks decided to pull a plug on its shows, when allegations of se**xual misconduct broke out surrounding the cast members.

Here are 6 TV series that were forced to be canceled sometimes mid-production due to scandals surrounding it’s star members.

1/ Louie

The smash hit show “Louie” came to an end in 2017 after 5 seasons and 61 episodes. In november of that year the New York Times published a story from five women detailing C.K.’s long history of se**xual misconduct.

The woman said that he had asked them to watch him mast**urbate multiple times, sometimes while talking on the phone.

Actually rumors about his behavior towards woman working with him begun to surface since 2015 in various sites. Those rumors included high profile names such as Roseanne Barr, Jen Kirkman and Tig Notaro.

The comedian initialy denied the allegations, but confessed to them after the report was published. He released a statement apologizing and admitting that all the stories were true.

His manager and co-producer for the show Dave Becky was also accused of helping C.K cover up his actions. For his defense the Becky said he misunderstood the woman’s allegations, and gave an apology to the victims.

Neither to say, C.K.’s career was highly impacted by the scandal. And the show was eventually cancelled after FX ended their buisiness partnership with C.K’s production company Pig Newton.

And all of C.K’s projects at the time were cancelled too, costing him $35 million in lost income.

2/ The Wonder Years

The coming-of-age sitcom was aired on ABC from 1988 until 1993. Although there were many speculations surrounding the show’s concellation, a few of the cast put the blame on the se**xual harrassment lawsuit.

Back in 1993, one of the show’s costume designers Monique Long filed a se**xual harassment lawsuit against stars Fred Savage and Jason Hervey. Claiming that she was fired after she rebuffed their advances towards her.

The suit was dropped after an out of court settlement with ABC network with neither a conviction nor an acquittal.

In a 2018 interview, co-star Alley Mills conformed that the lawsuit, which she described as “completely ridiculous,” was the reason the show was canceled.

3/ House of Cards

The political thriller show “House of Cards” first aired on Netflix in 2013, and soon became it’s signature show.

However, the show faced a serious scandal when Kevin Spacey was accused of several allegations of se**xual misconduct.

One of the cases was filed by actor Anthony Rapp in october 2017. Where he accused star Kevin Spacey who played Francis J. “Frank” Underwood,of a se**xual advance in 1986, when he was only 14 years old.

And he was not the only one, other young men who worked on the show, came forward with the same allegations of inappropriate se**xual conduct.

Even though season 6 of the show was in the middle of production when the news came out, Netflix fired the star. And he was replaced by Robin Wright to finish season 6, the final season, to give fans closer.

Due to the gravity of the accusations, Netflix cut all ties with Kevin Spacey, and cancelled the show immediatly.

4/ SMILF

The sitcom was created, written, directed and stared in the lead role by Frankie Shaw. It was based on on her short film of the same title. It aired on Showyime from 2017 until 2019 after 2 seasons.

In 2018, it surfaced that Shaw and the producers were under investigations. The Hollywood Reporter published that cast and crew members are accusing them of an inappropriate behaviour on the set of the show.

That included “inappropriately handled se**x scenes”, and racial discrimination. Actress Samara Weaving had to leave the show due to breach of contract in the filming of a se**x scene.

While Shaw denied all allegations, In 2019, a few days after the fourth episode of season two was broadcast, the series was canceled. The network even suspended all future production deals with Shaw.

5/ Wisdom of the Crowd

Wisdom of the Crowd was a crime drama, that followed a tech innovator who creates an app to solve his daughter’s murder.

The series first aired in 2017, but it was never renewed for a second season thanks to it’s starring acor Jeremy Piven.

Actor Jeremy Piven, who played the father Jeffrey Tanner, was accused of se**xual assault, harassment, and misconduct by eight women in 2017 and 2018.

One of these was an Entourage background actor named Anastasia Taneie. She said that while on set in 2009, Piven forcefully pinned her to the wall in a dark hallway and started touching her breast and gen**itals.

Piven “vehemently denied” all the allegations, and his lawyer called them “works of fiction”, saying that these woman were after fame and money.

These allegations in addition to relatively low ratings of the show, led CBS to decide to pull the plug on the show after just on season.

6/ Bulletproof

The british police series was first broadcast in 2018 on Sky One. The series was doing well, even got renewed for a fourth season in 2021.

Season four was set to consist of eight episodes, and filming had been scheduled to begin later in the year.

However, following allegations against the show’s lead acor Noel Clarke in late April 2021 of se**xual misconduct and bullying, filming was suspended.

Around 20 woman who worked with the actor came forward with allegations of verbal abuse, bullying, and se**xual harassment.

A producer accused him of exposing his gen**itals to her in the back of a car and groping her in a lift.

Actress Jing Lusi, who worked with him in the film SAS: Red Notice, alleged that he se**xually propositioned and threatened her.

Other alleged that Clarke made them performe se**x scenes nude, and grew angry if they refused.

Clarke denied “any se**xual misconduct or criminal wrongdoing” but confessed of doing one allegation, that he had repeatedly made remarks on the buttocks of the art director on Brotherhood, Helen Atherton.

In a public statement, Clarke apologised saying: “In a 20-year career, I have put inclusivity and diversity at the forefront of my work and never had a complaint made against me. If anyone who has worked with me has ever felt uncomfortable or disrespected, I sincerely apologise. I vehemently deny any se**xual misconduct or wrongdoing and intend to defend myself against these false allegations.”

Ultimitley, Sky and production company Vertigo Films cancelled the the series in May 2021.

Happy Days: 10 Behind-The-Scenes Secrets https://celebsaccess.com/happy-days-10-behind-the-scenes-secrets/ Fri, 17 Nov 2023 21:00:58 +0000 https://celebsaccess.com/?p=4110 The legendary sitcom ‘Happy Days’ was one of the most successful series of the 1970s. It aired from 1974 to 1984, with a total of 255 episodes spanning 11 seasons.

To this day, it still one of the most popular TV shows in U.S history. It helped launch cast members like Henry Winkler and Ron Howard into stardom, and launch the career of famous faces like Robin Williams.

But behind the scenes, there were many secrets that the fans didn’t know about. So, here is some facts and hidden truths about the show that you probably never heard of.

1/ the show was almost canceled after one season.

The iconic show Happy Days was almost cancelled after just one season due to low ratings.

It was saved when they started featuring Henry Winkler’s character, Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, in a larger role.

Audiences loved the character Fonzie, a hot tempered, bad boy, handsome greaser who can fix everything with his fist. Who can get any girl he wants with a snap of his fingers.

The character Fonzie not only saved the show, but it became so popular and valuable for the producers, that they considered changing the name of the show to Fonzie’s happy days.

2/ The show was suppose to be run in a different decade.

When producers pitched the idea of the show to Garry Marshall, they wanted it to take place in the flaper era of the 1920s. Marshall was interessted in the idea of a period-piece sitcom, but only if it was set in the 1950s during his childhood.

Marshall wanted to make in the 1950s to make it as realistic as possible. He had a hard time writing about the life of teenagers in 1920s because he knew nothing about that periode.

The network initially protested the periode change idea, but that all changed with the huge success of the American Graffiti in 1973. Suddenly 50s and 60s nostalgia was all the rage.

3/ why did pinky leave ?

In the season four, the writers wanted Fonzie to have a romantic story arc. So they created the character Carol “Pinky” Tuscadero, a tough and sassy derby driver to be his love interest.

And the former celebrity photographer Roz Kelly was cast to play the role.

The 3 part story called ‘Fonzie Loves Pinky’ was heavily promoted. and Pinky was an immediate hit with the fans.

Well, it turns out that in real life actress Roz Kelly didn’t really get along with the cast at all, including actor Henry Winkler.

So, her part was written off of the series after just three episodes.

4/ Ron Howard joined the show to avoid being drafted in the military.

The actor went to USC’s school of cinematic Arts to persue his dream of becoming a director.

But at the time, going to college was no longer considered a deferment for the war, so he had to chose employment deferment.

When he was offored the role, he agreed to play it, so he won’t have to go to Vietnam. After signing to work in Happy Days, Paramount helped Howard get out of being drafted.

5/ Pat Morita faked his accent.

The role Arnold (Matsuo Takahashi), the owner of the drive-in restaurant where the main characters hung out, was one of the major roles of Actor Noriyuki “Pat” Morita.

The producers wanted actor Pat Morita to have a stereotypical chinese accent, even though he was born in California and spoke perfect English.

He accepted their proposal and started to speak in a Chinese Pidgin English Dialect in the show despite the fact that he was Japanese.

Ironically, a couple of weeks later, standards and practices officials told Morita that he couldn’t play the role of Arnold as chinese, because it was politically incorrect since the actor was Japanese.

The actor really wanted to keep his role, so he told the producers that the character Matsuo/Arnold was half Chinese and Japanese. And that allowed him to keep his job.

6/ Henry Winkler couldn’t read the script due to his dyslexia.

Many fans did not know that at 31 years old, Winkler was diagnosed with Dyslexia.

His first auddition for the iconic role was not exactly flawless. He struggled to read the script due to his dyslexia. So to get the role he started making up lines.

“That’s not in the script,” the producers would point out. To this, Winkler replied: “I know but I’m giving you the essence of the character and if I get the part I’ll do it verbatim.”

The improvisation was a success with the casting director, and neither to say he got the role.

Audiences loved him, too, he was so good playing the character that he went from a minor role to the show’s star by season 2.

Winkler eventually overcame his struggles with dyslexia, and he even co-wrote a children’s book.

7/ One of the Beatles was a huge fan of ‘Happy Days’

Happy days became so famous that the show attracted a lot of famous fans, including the former beatle John Lennon. The musician and his son Julian were a huge fans of the show.

One day in 1975, Julian Lennon the most famous musician in the world dropped by the set of Happy Days unannounced, with his son.

The former Beatle even signed autographs and took pictures with all crew members.

John Lennon wasn’t the only beattle who was a fan with show, His bandmate, Ringo Starr, also loved Happy Days, and reportedly once tried to get a cameo on the show.

8/ Robin Williams got his first role thanks to ‘Star Wars’

After Marshall’s son saw the movie ‘star wars’, he asked his father to create a martian episode.

Marshall agreed and the writers wrote the episode “My Favorite Orkan.” However, the cast did not like the script. Luckily, The episode was saved thanks to comedy legend robin williams.

At first Marshall was having a lot of trouble casting the role of Mork from Ork, so he turned to his sister.

She ended up recommending a street comedian named: Mr. Robin Williams. Who had been doing stand-up for tips near the studio.

In his audition, the first thing he did was sit upside down in a chair, headfirst, when asked to have a seat. The funnyman won the role immediately.

The role quicly became one of the show’s most memorable personalities, earning his own spin-off years later.

9/ The Fonz wasn’t initially allowed to wear his iconic leather jacket

It’s hard to imagine The Fonz without his signature leather jacket. But, the iconic garment almost never made it on the show.

Studio execs felt leather jackets were associated with gangsters and thugs. And wanted to replace it with a non-threatening tan windbreaker instead.

Garry Marshall however, hated the alternative jacket, and did his best to make the leather jacket stay.

The studio compromised, allowing the Fonze to wear the leather jacket only in scenes where the motorcycle appeared.

so, Fonzie’s bike was written into nearly every scene during the early seasons.

10/ a few of the cast members sued Paramount.

In 2011, a few cast members filed a joint lawsuit against Paramount for $10 million. They said that they were grossly underpaid for the use of their likenesses on show-related marchandises.

Eventually, CBS came to a settlement with the cast members out of court.

Each actor involved in the suit ended received a check for $65,000 and that they will continue to receive royalties as specified in their original contracts.

The Dark Side Of “Married… With Children” https://celebsaccess.com/the-dark-side-of-married-with-children/ Mon, 13 Nov 2023 18:56:05 +0000 https://celebsaccess.com/?p=4035

when “Married… With Children” first aired in 1987, it pushed the boundaries of what was considered acceptable on Primetime television.

Even though the show was a huge success on the screen, it masked dark secrets behind the cameras. From co-stars feuding to raunchy casting choices, this is the dark side of “Married… With Children.”

David Faustino had a crush on his TV sister

Despite their on-screen animosity, there were rumors that David Faustino and Christina Applegate, who played the warring siblings, hooked up.

When Faustino was asked about this gossip, In an interview with LA Weekly, He responed saying “I don’t kiss and tell,”. “Keep that one a mystery.”

In another inteview with HipHopDX, he laughed off the rumors, claiming that he was merely bragging in his previous admissions.

But Faustino wasn’t the only one who had a crush for Applegate. During an appearance on the “Allegedly” podcast, Faustino revealed that George Harrison also had a thing for Christina.

When Faustino met the Beatle one night, the later told him that he was a huge fan of “Married… With Children.” Especially Applegate. He commented that he wanted to do some pretty NSFW things to her.

The next day when Faustino returned to the set, he told the story to everyone. While the cast members found it hilarious, Applegate was left embarrassed and humiliated.

The sad reason why Katey Sagal’s pregnancy was just a dream on the show

During season 6 premiere “She’s Having My Baby,” Peggy revealed she was pregnant. But at the end of the season, it turned out to be just a dream, and Peg wasn’t pregnant at all. Which left the fans surprised and confused.

The truth was that during filming, Katey Sagal became pregnant with her then-husband Jack White’s child. But sadly, in 1991 she suffered a stillbirth, and the writers had to change her pregnancy storyline.

Sagal shared that she found the whole experience to be rather unsettling, when she saw the episode “Al Bundy, Shoe Dick,” in which Peg’s pregnancy was revealed to be a dream.”It was just Al’s ‘scary dream.’ The perfect way to handle it given the irreverent nature of our show,”

After her lose, Sagal took some time off from shooting, so she had to be absent from several episodes to deal with the her loss. She also shared that she was constantly harassed by paparazzi following her loss.

she wrote in her memoir, “Grace Notes.” “Of course, just because Peg was never seen losing the baby didn’t mean my stillbirth wasn’t public knowledge. … Odd to go through something so personal in public.”

Adult film actors were frequently hired on set

The “Married With Children” audience was infamous for cheering every time an attractive woman came on set. Sometimes it got so bad that they had to pause filming.

And the writers loved it, to the point that they purposely cast pornographic actors for the audience’s titillation.

Speaking with HipHopDX, David Faustino revealed that writers Ron Leavitt and Michael Moye “were two of the biggest horndogs of all time”.

” they had porn stars on the show,” Faustino said. “Teri Weigel, she would come through all the time and she would be flashing everybody.”

He also remembered a time when Weigel put the then 15 year old’s head underneath her top, exposing her bare breasts to him. That was every teenagers dream so laughed it off, but looking back at it he admitted that it was an inappropriate act to subject a child to.

Inappropriate behavior toward kids

Christina Applegate was only 15 years old when the show began. Despite this, she was highly se**xualized from the outset of the show, she was constintly shot everytime she bend over, wearing tight cloths.

The role of Al Bundy severely damaged Ed O’Neill’s career prospects

while the character Al Bundy was beloved by many, it ended up harming Ed O’Neill’s career.

He was kind of stuck with that character, no one could see behind the famous Bundy shirt and slacks combo.

Before starting the show, O’Neill was an established dramatic actor. But years of playing Al Bundy, insulting woman who came into his store has left him typecast.

In fact, when O’Neill did a screen test in the war movie “Flight of the Intruder,” the audience couldn’t stop laughing when he emerged on screen, despite the fact that he was performing in a highly dark scene. Nether to say, he didn’t get the role because of this.

“It’s not as much my job as the audience’s job to accept something else from me. … Obviously, you’re going to have some people who say, ‘Oh, I only like him as Al,'” O’Neill told the outlet regarding his faltering film career. “That’s just the way it is.”

Katey Sagal thought the show was sexist and misogynistic

Over the years, the show had attracted a certain male demographic for several reasons : it’s aggressivive and insult driven humor, constante shots of cleavages, showing woman as objects.

For that the sitcom has been frequently called by critics sexist, unmatched in its objectification and demeaning of women.

But it’s not just critics who think that, Katey Sagal also critiqued the show for its misogyny.

“It was a very misogynistic show,” she said in a Build interview, adding, “Women were portrayed, like, completely exploited on that show. That was part of Al Bundy’s thing. He liked hot women and they showed them all the time.”

Although Sagal acknowledge that the show was misogyny and exploitive, she shared that When fans would confront her about acting that role, Sagal explained that it was her job to interpret the role from a woman’s perspective, thereby subverting its inherent sexism.

When speaking with the Los Angeles Times in 1989, Ed O’Neill addressed the sexism controversy, but argued that Al Bundy was not a role model. “The last thing I think Al should be is a role model. … These characters are just supposed to make people laugh, not teach or enlighten anyone,” he said.

No one from the cast knew about the show’s concellation

In 1997, the sitcom “Married With Children” ended after 11 years on air, But it seems the show’s stars were the last to find out.

on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ed O’Neill recounted ” he went back home to Youngstown, Ohio, when a newlywed couple declared that “Married… With Children” had been canceled, much to his surprise.

But he wasn’t the only one in the dark, Christina Applegate said during an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,”that she discovered the show was canceled from a friend who had been listening to the radio.

“Kevin & Bean knew before me. Someone I knew had heard it on ‘Kevin & Bean’ and then called me to tell me that the show was canceled,” she disclosed.

Not only did the stars knew about the shows cancellation from outsider sources,  they were also cheated out of royalties.

O’Neill admitted that he didn’t receiving a dime from “Married… With Children” reruns. Since the show was under a cable contract, the cast were not entitled to receive residuals.

Ed O’Neill and Amanda Bearse hated each other

On screen, lowly shoe salesman Al Bundy and his super successful yuppie neighbor Marcy were always pickering.

Well, it appears that wasn’t always an act. In real life Ed O’Neill and Amanda Bearse did not get along at all. The two were always engaging in a feud, particularly toward the end of the series.

During a Q&A at Raleigh Supercon, Bearse was asked about her relationship with O’Neill and replied, “I follow the Thumper rule: if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

“He was not happy towards the end of the series and so, that affected everything,” she added,

Also, O’Neill and David Faustino get upset from Bearse, because she didn’t invite them to her wedding. Bearse told the pair that they weren’t invited because they would ruin the ceremony by laughing at two women getting married in tuxedos. O’Neill started laughing, proving her point.

This controversial episode was cut off the air

It’s no suprise that the show “Married… With Children” was surrounded with controversies.

Per The New York Times, a woman named Terry Rakolta even campaigned to boycott the show. She even got a number of advertisers, including the likes of McDonald’s, to pull their ads from Fox.

And that was only the start, in season 3 the episode “I’ll See You in Court” ended up being cut as it was deemed too se**xually provocative.

The plot of that episode was centered on Al and Peg going to a motel, and unbeknownst to them, making se**x tapes due to hidden cameras in the room.

In 2004, the episode was released on DVD, and the fans could finally watch the lost episode.

Despite Rakolta’s efforts to have “Married… With Children” cancelled, the controversy surrounding it only attracted more attention and more views, which lead to the show’s long run.

Katey Sagal’s unconventional personal life

Like her character Peggy Bundy, Katey Sagal also had an unconventional life.

Ever since she was a teenager, Sagal struggled with drug use, that began when a family doctor gave her diet pills when she was only 14 years old.

As Sagal recalled to ABC News, it was her multiple family tragedies that intensified her addiction. When she was 21, she lost her mother who died of a heart attack. Then, just a few years later and while filming a TV series, her father was killed in a freak helicopter accident.

While starting her acting career Sagal kept her drug addiction a secret. A chance meeting between Sagal and a woman who was going through the same struggles while they both were on a TV set helped her turn her life around.

After speaking to the woman, Sagal discovered that sobriety was a pathway entirely within her grasp.

In a chat with Bustle, she revealed that within just two months of getting sober, she landed her role on “Married…With Children.”

Amanda Bearse got bullied on and off the cameras

Amanda talked about the show’s humor to the Fayetteville Observer “It was a raunchy, mean-spirited show. It couldn’t have been made today, I’m not sure it should have been made then.”

In an interview with news.com.au, Bearse also confessed that she faced sexist harassment in the industry, which led to her abandoning acting.

Although she did not explicitly blame her time on “Married… With Children” for leaving acting, she disclosed that she was frequently bullied both on and off screen.

Even Ed O’Neill admitted that he believed the series was cruel at the best of times, but said that it was necessary to the comedy. “I always thought that comedy is basically mean-spirited,” he told the Los Angeles Times.

TOP 13 Romantic movies with Shocking Age Gap difference https://celebsaccess.com/top-13-romantic-movies-with-shocking-age-gap-difference/ Fri, 29 Sep 2023 20:29:46 +0000 https://celebsaccess.com/?p=3660 Romantic movies have always captivated us with love stories filled with passion and emotions. that we spend our entire life searching for it.

But sometimes the age gap between the two parts of the love story is unrealisticly big.

In this list is 13 examples of big Romantic movies that made us a bit uncomfortable.

22 Years (Richard Gere and Winona Ryder, Autumn in New York, 2000)

Ryder was 29 when she starred in Autumn in New York. while Gere was 51, making them quite an unbalanced couple.

The age difference between the two actors is already kind of uncomfortable, but the gap between the characters is even worse.

While Gere plays Will Keane, who is just three years younger than the actor himself at 48, Ryder’s character Charlotte is aged all the way down to 22.

In the film, Will is a middle-aged man seeking love with a much younger woman, but still frames the relationship as an uncomplicatedly sweet one. He later learns that Charlotte is the daughter of a woman he once dated. Yuck.

26 Years (Harrison Ford and Anne Heche, Six Days, Seven Nights, 1998)

Described by Rotten Tomatoes as “a completely forgettable piece of Hollywood fluff.”

Six Days, Seven Nights sees Harrison Ford team up with Anne Heche. Anne Heche was 29 and Harrison Ford was 55 at the time, making him 26 years older than his co-star.

Both Ford’s character Quinn and Heche’s character Robin are happily dating other people at the beginning of the movie.

And are pushed to cheat with each other due to being stranded on a desert island.

26 Years (Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt, As Good as it Gets, 1997)

Jack Nicholson was 60 when he did this 1997 film. But not for a moment did you feel any kind of awkwardness here when he was dating the 34 year old Helen Hunt.

‘As Good As it Gets’ is a sweet little romantic comedy that tells the story of a misanthropic, annoying, obsessive-compulsive writer, played by Nicholson, who has to take care of his neighbor’s dog.

He falls in love with a waitress, almost half his age, who is a single mother with a chronically ill son.

The film is wonderfully made with some fine performances by Nicholson and Hunt, both of who won the Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Actress respectively.

27 Years (Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Crazy Heart, 2009)

His fantastic performance in Crazy Heart won Jeff Bridges a well-deserved Best Actor Oscar.

Jeff Bridges was 58-year-old and Maggie Gyllenhaal was 31-year age, making for a real-life age gap of 27 years.

Crazy Heart is a drama centred on Bridges, who plays an alcoholic country music singer down on his luck named Otis.

His relationship with a young journalist, played by Gyllenhaal, is what inspires him to stop drinking and turn his life around.

27 Years (Gene Wilder and Kelly LeBrock, The Woman In Red, 1984)

In the 1984 film The woman in red, 51-year-old Gene Wilder hooks up with Weird Science star Kelly LeBrock, who at 24 years old was 27 years his junior.

The Woman in Red is a straightforward romantic comedy, adapted from a 1976 French film called Pardon Mon Affaire.

Essentially, Wilder’s character Teddy becomes obsessed with LeBrock’s character Charlotte, after seeing her dress being blown up by a breeze from a ventilation grate, revealing her skimpy underwear.

Teddy then spends the whole movie coming up with elaborate schemes to seduce this woman, until he finally does and realises she also has a partner, at which point he immediately becomes interested in another woman.

28 Years (Colin Firth and Emma Stone, Magic in the Moonlight, 2014)

Emma Stone and Colin Firth were 25 and 53, respectively, when “Magic in the Moonlight” (2014) premiered.

In the 2014 romantic drama, Colin Firth and Emma Stone played love interests.

The plot of Magic in the Moonlight is actually pretty charming, with Colin Firth playing a cynical showman tasked with debunking Emma Stone, who plays a prolific psychic and medium but the two end up falling in love.

32 Years (Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde, Third Person, 2013)

Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde starred as on-again, off-again lovers in “Third Person” (2013).

Liam Neeson was 61 and Olivia Wilde was only 29 years old when she had a fling with Neeson’s character Michael Leary in the romantic drama Third Person, making for a real-life age gap of 32 years.

Third Person is actually three separate but interconnected love stories strung together. The movie received awful reviews, with many critics saying the love story was not compelling, and that the characters were written flatly.

34 Years (Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, Lost in Translation, 2003)

When “Lost in Translation” premiered in 2003, Scarlett Johansson was 18 years old and Bill Murray was 52. Their age difference was a prominent part of the film’s plot, so it’s not that surprising that the actors were 34 years apart.

Lost in Translation is a sweetly melancholic tale of love and loneliness. The film depicts the relationship between a middle aged American actor and a much younger American woman who happen to meet in a hotel in Tokyo, lost in a world and culture so alien to them.

A single kiss might’ve been the only physical moment between them, but Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray’s chemistry was strong throughout the drama.

35 Years (Jack Nicholson and Amanda Peet, Something’s Gotta Give, 2003)

Something’s Gotta Give

The 2003 romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give sees jack Nicholson’s character had a fling with a woman less than half his age

Amanda Peet was 31 years old when she played a character who catches 66-year-old Jack Nicholson’s eye in the 2003 romantic comedy. Making her exactly three-and-a-half decades younger than her on-screen love interest.

However, this age gap is made a little less uncomfortable by the fact that it is integral to the plot.

38 years (James Mason and Sue Lyon, Lolita, 1962).

The original film adaptation of “Lolita” (1962) included a 38-year age gap between the lead actors. At the time of the controversial film was released, James Mason was 53 and Sue Lyon was only 15.

Stanley Kubrick‘s bizarrely romantic black comedy drama tells the story of a middle aged man who is sexually attracted to a gorgeous teenager.

Humbert is offered by a sexually frustrated widow to stay at her house which he initially declines but accepts it after he sees her teenage daughter.

The film was controversial for its bold subject and tone and wasn’t well received by critics at the time.

39 Years (Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Entrapment, 1999)

Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones had nearly four decades between them when they starred in “Entrapment” (1999).

Sea必利勁 n Connery was 68 when he played the thief-turned-unlikely partner opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was 29 when the 1999 crime thriller premiered.

The relationship between the two characters is mostly built on deception, since for most of the movie’s runtime, both are unsure about who is being double-crossed and whose feelings are genuine.

42 Years (Tom Skerritt and Drew Barrymore, Poison Ivy, 1992)

Drew Barrymore was 17 when she starred opposite then-59-year-old Tom Skerritt in “Poison Ivy” (1992).

In the film, she seduces a much older married man, the 42-year gap between Barrymore and Skerritt is simply too much for us to bear.

The film contains many uncomfortable scenes between the two. It also ends rather gruesomely, with Barrymore’s character being pushed off a balcony to her death as revenge for the affair.

The film was hugely controversial upon its release, but that controversy only helped it become a huge hit on home media.

52 Years (Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort, Harold and Maude, 1971)

An unlikely romance buds between the title characters of “Harold and Maude” (1971), who were 52 years apart. Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort were 75 and 23, respectively, when the 1971 cult rom-com was released.

‘Harold and Maude’ has an almost creepy storyline. A 20-year-old obsessed with suicide meets an optimistic 80-year-old while attending the funeral of a stranger.

The two become friends and later fall in love, as Maude teaches Harold what it means to live a full and happy life, as opposed to a depressed one.

The film did not sit well with audiences and critics back when it was released in 1971 for very obvious reasons.
